Thanks for dropping by! You are correct, you are not covered by “Buyer/Seller” protection with this form of payment.

The main way that I use it is for transferring money to affiliates and business partners. People that I am not needing “protection” from.

Affiliates love when they actually get paid the amount they earned (and not the amount they earned minus paypal fees). This keeps them happy and promoting!

Hey Lance, Realize this is a little behind the times given the date on your blog post, but I think the info is relevant enough that it deserves a mention.

I have a writer that I work with who is my “PayPal Insider”. He explained the finer points of MassPay to me several months ago. And while I haven’t confirmed this, he told me that funds sent via MassPay are NOT covered under any type of Buyer or Seller Protection Program.

Probably not a big deal in most instances, but if you are going to send payment for a big ticket purchase, I’d definitely consider the risk.

Great tip. Using mass pay to issue "Rebates" will allow me to sell MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) items in my store, Gary's Odd Stuff , without violating MAP Policy, and give my customer a discounted final price.
