Lance,
Awesome post! I wish someone would've said all this to me when I first started out. For me I have a short list of people I buy from. I learn plenty from those people. I may sign up for freebies from other people but I'll test the "trust-factor" waters right out of the gate. If they don't make the cut I get off their list as soon as possible.

Dear Jeanette. Excellent tips you have to separate your emails for offers and personal.

I do bored watching email everyday, flying across my inbox and tell me to download free stuff. I have downloading the same report seven times and I'm getting mad on it, so rather than keep that email account distract me over and over, I choose to build personal email address, and take a vow on myself to not listing in my new email address on list of 'stranger gurus'.

That's what makes me still sane until know and gradually built my own project and list rather than building 'their' list.

Until recently I got some serious distraction from social media like Facebook, etc...

They really know how to make you feel bad and guilty if you are not responding your relatives or friends recent comments. And it really knows how to 'kick' you and make you being unrecognized after take hiatus from it several weeks or months.

I do really need any advices. Anything will greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Excellent tips, Jeanette! I love the idea of segregating all the marketing emails. I'm going to use that principle right now and set up a rule to file them all into a seaparate folder (not my inbox) to keep the inbox volume down! I've greatly reduced the marketers I follow, but anything to keep me productive is a bonus.

Lance,

Thanks for this post. Great info and the filter to identify the wheat from the chaff is great. I think we often know this already at a gut level, but making us conscious of it is helpful too.

I've found that we are all suseptible to the falicy of thinking that just by forking over money we will instantly get results. (We feel like we've done something!) But it is the APPLICATION of even the best IM trainers are teaching that gets the results - not the spending of money on more products. That's one of the reasons I really like you and Robert - the accountability kick in the butt / expectation you have for your students. Do something that you can charge for - THAT'S what will bring in some money! Not the buying or the learning even - the doing.

Thanks again!

Hi Again Lance,
Just popped in to put this on the monitor site but the post area is not there so I presume that it is past 5pm your time.

My comment was to be that you need to keep the monitor and I will have to get another then we both need to put a big calendar on it with the blinking lights on it so we do not get our days mixed up.

I am constantly doing it even though I have it on the bottom of this monitor. I get so carried away with what I am doing and forget to check.

Thanks for the great opportunity you have offered us with this and the chance to help others with our comments here.

Take care all

Hi Peter,
Like you I do save email's but only until I can get the email address from them and then add them to my list.

If they email you then they are giving you permission to email them back. OK.

Another way of getting a list of opt-in addresses and it makes the time spent on these email's worth it.

Remember though to make sure you let that person know from which program they emailed you for so they cannot accuse you of spam, like

"Hi Peter,
I was glade to get your email inviting me to come to I'm Broke. At this time I am unable to take on board this program but will keep it in mind for the future as my web site is taking all my time.
I would be pleased if you would reciprocate by taking a look at my (URL placed here) and let me know what you think.
Thanks
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

If you set up your Autoresponder pacifically for these then you will have a good proportion of them return either with their opinion or they could be on of your better clients because you have taken the time to let them know you DID get their email and that you DID answer them.

This means so much to those starting out as you would know.

For those reading this do not get waylaid on this, save your emails to a special folder and only go into them when you know you have finished what was on your list for the day. They will keep for a couple of days but I would not let them weight for more than a week as you know yourselves how easy it is to forget where you where 1 week ago in your emails.

Take care and good list making with this
