what a GREAT TIME read your why i quit post and all the wonderfull responses to it first time visitor to your blog
further more your advise to people on over whelm is spot on and shopuld be requiered reading to all visitors short & sweeeeet ( i must say that a lot of people respond oh no not me, human nature i suppose anyhow thanks lots keep in touch!!!!!!!!!!!

Great post Lance! I quit a few years ago and much prefer listening to audio programs in my car than keeping current on the latest news stories.

Amazing Lance! My wife and I ‘quit’ last year when we had twins.. I agree with the sentiment that it’s not the kind of impression we want seeping into their precious 2 year old minds…
We certainly don’t need the generally depressing and sometimes horrific human behavior the news thrives on.. A positive atmosphere is so much healthier.

So true, everything your mention. I did the same long time ago and only briefly check the news from time to time. If it’s something really important you’ll find out about it eventually.

Hi Lance,

We gave up by accident 5 years ago! Storm knocked out our ariel and it it took us a little while to think about getting fixed. We found that the children were reading and playing together more. Conversations improved, as did the amount of time we had for each other and ourselves. People look at us funny when we say we have no TV or cable, LOL. But hey, it works for us. If we need to know something, we just have to spend a bit of effort finding out about it, instead of being continuosly dripped feed it.

Hi Lance,

I don’t have a telly. Nor do I read newspapers. Haven’t for years.

When I practiced as a psychotherapist I cured twenty percent of people of depression in two interviews.

In the first I told them to only listen to music in the mornings, and never the news.

In the second interview I checked that they had followed the prescription.

Come to think of it that’s a cure in one session

I’m with you. I stopped watching the news (everyday) long ago
because of the Violence in the streets, Terrorism, the Patriot Act,
The War, and now the Economy.

It’s enough to drive anyone to depression.

Hey Lance,

Murders and porn are in the news in Las Vegas more than everything else. I know what is coming it is only how soon. I really don’t watch the news because syndicated news it censored by the government. I listen for key or buzz words You can usually tell when something is going to happen about a week before it happens.

I am just fighting to promote our Blog Co-Op system. We kind of lost everything we had sometime back and are trying to start all over, It’s hard with out all the tools lists and big name. But we will make it.

Thanks I do agree that the media is crippling the nation and doing it purposely.
